99, formerly of Oldfields
Elsie Hill Fisher, 99, of Frederick, formerly of Oldfields, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1901, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Lottie Richardson Hill. She was the wife of Chester Otis Fisher, who died in 1987.
She was a member of Keys Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for many years. She was a past Worthy Matron of Hope Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, New Market. She was a housekeeper for former Senator and Mrs. Charles H. Smelser for many years. She was superintendent of Keys Chapel Cemetery for a number of years.
Surviving are four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sons William Chester Fisher in 1922, Harold Eugene Fisher in 1976 and daughter-in-law Mary Alice Summers Fisher in 1973.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keys Chapel Church, Keys Chapel Road, Oldfields. Interment will be in Keys Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown.

A. Brown, 78, of Union Bridge
Gloria Ann Brown,
78, of Union Bridge, died suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at her home.
Born April 3,
1925, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late William and Eliza Stein
Barnes. She was the wife of Samuel J. Brown Sr., who died in 1988.
She was a 1943
graduate of Lincoln High School, Frederick.
She was an active
member of Keys Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer
and participated in the building campaign.
She was employed
as a licensed practical nurse at Springfield State Hospital for 20 years,
retiring in 1978.
She enjoyed
gardening, plants and was an avid reader.
Surviving are son
and daughter-in-law Samuel J. Jr. and Avonnee of Baltimore; sisters Betty Brown
of Baltimore, Lillian Foreman and Rosemary Jackson, both of Frederick, and
Peggy Barksdale of Chester, Pa.; grandsons Todd K. Brown and Troy S. Brown; and
great-granddaughter Kiana K. Brown.
She was
predeceased by brothers Arnold Barnes, Jake Barnes and Paul Barnes.
A funeral service
will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road,
Libertytown, with her pastor, the Rev. Sharon Gibson, officiating. Interment
will be in Keys Chapel Cemetery, Oldfields.
The family will
receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
